One swallow does not a summer make
My learning journey has taken more than 5 decades. Over half a century as a teacher, 5 schools as a leader, two in England one in Germany, two in India, from International Baccalaureate to a small network of low cost rural Gurukuls. Add to hundreds of schools reviewed, thousands of lessons observed, learning walks taken and countless conversations with children, teachers, staff, parents, leaders, alumni and boards, across 25 states and union territories in India. While I continue my journey of enquiry on how leadership impacts on the learning and life of the child, I offer here a series of insights into what I and other Adhyayan educators have learned ‘good leadership looks like’. I hope that this episode, “One swallow does not a summer make” speaks to you as potently as it does to me.
