The school as the vehicle for education brings life to the blind men and the elephant in the room. Over centuries there are almost as many theories of learning and of human development as there are societies. Yet, the input-output model of schooling created during the industrial revolution has been ubiquitous across the world in every country.
Wherever learning takes place is a school. Learning could be for children, adolescents or adults. A good school is characterised by happy, independent and collaborative learners. We strongly believe in a school’s self-led improvement journey.
Adhyayan was started in 2011 by school leaders and education consultants Kavita Anand and Spokey Wheeler from the recognition that transitioning from a one size fits all model to a child at the centre model requires school leaders with highly developed metacognition and an understanding of complexity theory and systems thinking.
The target was 100,000 schools by 2025.
