Nita started her career in hospitality and marketing, but education has always been her first love. She graduated from Bombay University with a degree in English Literature and later studied to become a preschool teacher. For a few years in Bangalore, she worked at a leading preschool. After moving to Mumbai, she was offered a job as a Spanish teacher at Bombay International School. In two short years, she was appointed as the Programme Coordinator and then in 2017, the school appointed her as the Head of Junior School. During her tenure at BIS, Nita was an active advocate of inclusion and community service.
Since 2016, Nita has been associated with Adhyayan Quality Education Services as an assessor. She has led workshops for other educators in the use of technology in education, assessment, sketchnoting and literacy instruction. As a lead assessor for Adhyayan Quality Education Services, she has taken part in school reviews all over India. She is also a Trustee of Qimpro Foundation, an organisation committed to recognizing excellence in business, healthcare, education and the environment. She serves as a Board Member at Down to Earth, a small grassroots organisation in Mumbai that helps children from the slum community in Cuffe Parade build character, courage and careers.
Determined to give back to society, she has switched careers and joined Adhyayan Quality Education Foundation as a Director and looks after People Practices. Apart from reading, sketchnoting, playing word games, and taking long walks, Nita loves to bake in her free time (she even briefly owned a bakery) and has recently started experimenting with sourdough.
